Samuel McLarnon (1923-2013) was born in Larne, Co. Antrim where he studied art at Larne Technical School. Here he was the recipient of several awards, along with a Diploma in illustration. His preferred medium was painting in watercolours and his subjects feature mainly Antrim coastal scenes.
Whilst Samuel became qualified to teach art, his passion for painting outdoors led him away from this.
McLarnon opened a studio in Main Street Larne and exhibited there annually for 28 years. He was a founding member of Larne Art Club, helped found the Ulster Watercolour Society and was a life member of Carnlough Art Club.
